Again
like I did for the chase video I worked with people in group B to film this
discovery video the premises of this video was top cops discovering a serial
killer and taking him down, they discover him disposing of something that is
hinted at being one of the cops family members e.g. wife or child. For this
scene I had dialogue but I decide to get ride of it and put over it a
narration, the narration is not mine thou I used the very famous narration from
George A. Romero Dawn Of The Dead in which a new reporter talks about the end
of the world and I feel it really adds too the mood and more so when you see
the sunshine coming over the trees which I meant it for it to symbolises evil
and the good being the sunshine fading away over the trees. I feel this really
set the mode and meaning of the scene to show real evil and to make the
audience feel creeped out from the scene, that is also why I chose to set it in
the woods as its a place where no one goes and its the middle of no where and I
tried to film it to make it seem like it was the entrance to evil (hell).
Then it comes down to the editing in which during both filming and editing I really wanted the audience to be intrigued to what was happening and just wonder what is inside that orange bucket (Just like Seven) and then wonder does it mean something to the man with the gun why is he getting angry at the crazy guy with blood over his hands and more importantly what is being said to make he that angry, but at the same time I didn't want the audience to know only have guesses for themselves to what could be and I do this as i said by the voiceover/music but I also believe my editing really comes down to it as well.
The reason for this is because you don't get introduced to the character with the gun and his friend until the serial killer gets into there line of filming I done this because I believe that the audience should mainly be focusing on the way the killer looks/acts and really study him asking question such as "Why has he got blood on him?" and the most important question "What is in that bucket and what he was doing in it?". It continues to focus on him right up to the point of one of the other characters getting out of shot to go see what is inside the bucket, but then again I didn't want anyone to know what was inside the bucket so when it came down to filming and editing I chose to use the famous Tarantino car boot angle in which for my one I covered the camera with a rock inside the bucket so as soon as the character takes away the rock the camera is being the thing that is inside the bucket, so right away you get the reaction shot of the character who has seen what is inside you from that angle and editing you know it's not a good thing it's what everyone thinks it is but who is in there? or even what is in there?.
Then finally you have the closing part of the scene in which you know something bad which means something to the main character is inside the bucket but you don't know what's in it, in this scene I edit it so in which you get all the characters in the scene while still playing the voice over but as soon as the character gets hit on the ground the camera goes up so in which you can't see him only the two main characters, then during editing I put in a part in which the camera fades away from the made with a gun and you can see the sun shine on the over characters head and then it cuts right to black and then right away you hear a gun shot and your left with really wonder of what was in the bucket and did he really shot the killer, and I done this through editing (clips/music) and the story in general.

Crisply edited Discovery scenario, with an effectively spare use of sound and voiceover to create an eerie mood. Interim Merit
