Dubbing Workshop
For this workshop we were in groups of two and had a number of film scenes we had to look over copy the script and then take out the dialogue and replace it with us dubbing over it, for this we (Me and Roisin) choose the scene from Heat in which the two main characters Lt. Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) and Neil McCauley (Robert De Niro) are sitting in a cafe and talking about how one of them (Pacino) will be hunting the other one (De Niro) down until he is either in prison or is dead and the scene is a very tense one also is known for is great dialogue and acting. For this workshop I was working with Roisin and for this I was doing both De Niro and Pacino's voices while Roisin said she would edit the clips. I recording in the recording studio by using a condenser microphone which I feel is the best microphone for the job as it captures the voice clearly in an empty room. after I had done all the voices for this I made the mistake of not following the scene and just got nervous and started following the script but talking too fast and after doing the best to fix it in editing and re takes it just didn't sound right or look right as it was very much out of sync this was something that I did not like but from these mistakes it made me learn for future workshops and I now know what to do and what not to do and I feel like if I hadn't made mistakes in recording the voices I would not have got the hang out these workshops. I feel the mode and meaning towards this tense scene was completely ruined and gone after my voice and accent being put in place of the two characters and I feel gave more of a comedic effect too the scene. It shows if you don't follow the right way of recording sound it can be very much out of sync and without being a pro at editing out of sync sound you won't be able to fix it without re recording.
